Forest School
So what is Forest School? Have a look below for a few points about why Forest School is great for your child, great for you, great for your school and why I love my job!
Sarah

What is it?
Forest School consists of 6 main principles which can be found here. These underpin every session and plan of forest school. It is a place where success looks different to everyone. Risk is encouraged (when appropriately assessed) exploring the world with support and encouragement and connecting with our outside space.
Where do I find you?
I work within School settings to deliver Forest School in their outside space. We hold sessions in 6 week blocks for all year groups on a carousel basis. I also hold Forest School Holiday clubs and include Forest School activities in my drumming circle space. To find out more visit my eventbrite page or sign up to my emails to get the information straight to your inbox.

Why Forest School?
"Forest School is a child-centred inspirational learning process, that offers opportunities for holistic growth through regular sessions. It is a long-term program that supports play, exploration and supported risk taking. It develops confidence and self-esteem through learner inspired, hands-on experiences in a natural setting."

I love to see children and adults free to explore and connect with the natural world, exploring with all senses and activities which nurture our holistic needs.

Just so you know...
Forest School should be led by a trained Level 3 Forest School Leader , the course takes you on a journey of pedagogy, learning styles, research studies and hands on experience and reflection. It is important that your Forest School Leader has this experience, it also connects them with a larger network where ideas and experience are shared. I trained in 2022 and hold this qualification as awarded by Cambium sustainable.
The Forest School Association is the professional body and UK wide voice for Forest School, promoting and supporting best practice. There are regional groups which have meet ups and skills shares monthly, if you are a Forest School Leader in Essex and you would like to join a great varied group of practitioners please join Essex FSA group on facebook to find out what is on when. I am a member of the Essex FSA Committee and am excited to work alongside experienced members to continually improve my knowledge and skills and also meet and connect with other Forest School Leaders.
